I am very pleased to announce the release of S&P Capital IQ’s inaugural issue of Sector IQ: Energy, which provides a broad view of the energy market for analysts, investors and those involved directly in energy companies. From years of discussions with those in the market, I have learned that when people view the world through a “sector” lens (e.g. Energy professionals) they want information from a multiple asset class perspective – which is just what this issue provides.
The content for this piece comes from several groups across McGraw Hill Financial. Our sincere hope is that it does in fact deliver to our readers the essential intelligence that is critical to all who touch the world of Energy. The sections in this inaugural issue focus primarily on oil & gas activities and help to tell the unfolding narrative of how the liquids boom, driven by horizontal hydraulic fracturing “fracking”, has changed this sector.
A clear example of this narrative is the fact that 3 of the top 5 global M&A transactions in 2013 involved oil & gas exploration and production targets based in the United States. Additionally, we saw the largest global energy IPO of Q1 2014 by Rice Energy, which holds interest in several North American shale deposits, further demonstrating the growing impacts of the production shifts.
Sector IQ: Energy consists of individual pages that focus on deal activities, equities and indices, credit, fixed income, production estimates, and more. I hope that you read this issue and provide us your detailed feedback on how you find it helpful in informing your world – and opportunities for improvement.
